The need for Salvation  

Our Father who dwells in Heaven, may Your Name be sanctified. Let Your will be done. Help us live in Your truth and your light. Lead us to live a Spirit-filled life and to do Your will. Always. Amen.

The Fall

One Covenant

At the time of the creation, the earth knew no death and there was nothing that could bring death. But because of Adam's disobedience, this world got acquainted with death. Genesis 2:16-17. “... do not eat of the fruits of the tree of knowledge of good and evil... if you eat of it, you will die." 

In fact, these two verses describe the first covenant of God with man. It's not just a ban on eating a fruit, it also holds the promise of love - Be obedient and it will go well with you.

Disobedience

Genesis 3:1-6 - The father of lies, Satan, begins his cunningness here. His angry sting takes a start. He begins at the perversion of words. Here quite the words of God. He transforms a statement into a question to attract attention. Now the word game are played. The seed of wonder, doubt and/or desire was planted. The woman answers Satan. It gives him the gap to infiltrate your thoughts. The conversation becomes a lie. You won't die. God just doesn't want you to be like him. The woman appears to have thought about it at first. End of the matter is, she ate from the tree. Gave some to her her husband. He also ate.

Sin walked into the world. Along with sin, death. Not only the carnal, but also the Spiritual death.

Punishment

In Genesis 3:7-13, we read how the husband and wife were hiding from God, but not getting it done.

Genesis 3:14-19, 24 The serpent that did the seduce is punished in verses 14 and 15. You become cursed more than all the other animals. And there will be enmity between your offspring and that of the woman. The turn of the woman comes in verse 16. Giving birth to your children will be painful and their care will be with effort. You will have a desire for your husband, but he will rule over you. Because of the man's sin, verses 17, 18 and 19. The earth is cursed by God. And the man will eat with effort and hard work for the rest of his life. Also in verse 19, until dust you will return. The physical death is envisaged. In verse 24, man is chased out of paradise. Which is then guarded to prevent man from being able to come back. Life without God begins.

The Good News

But now we must first look back at Genesis 3:15. Very important. Here we see the first prediction of our Savior Jesus Christ. You're going to bite him in the heel. But he's going to bruise your head. 

Hope is created. Here the Gospel is already beginning.

 There is eternal life after death. Romans 6:23

Almighty God, Triune and Creator of heaven and earth. Thank you for the privilege of worshipping you. Grace, yes, grace from our Lord alone. Amen.

Salvation, The way to

 

The way to Salvation.

Be still before the Almighty God and ask Him to lead you in Spirit and Truth.  

Below are five statements around Salvation. Let us think about these statements. Then search the Bible for verses and references that will prove them to be true. 

Salvation is given to us by God only, because He wants to. We can only learn about the saving power of God when listening to His Word. To be saved is only possible through faith. Jesus Christ is the only one who can save, as salvation is in Him. Salvation is always and only for the Glory of God.

   By the Grace of God alone.
   Through Scripture alone.
   By faith alone.
   In Jesus Christ alone.
   For the Glory of God alone.
